Singled Out

Sometimes I struggle with settling when it comes to guys.  I know what I want and I know that God has the perfect guy out there for me.  But at the school I go to, most of the good guys are taken or non-existent.  Then the what ifs start.  What if there isn't a perfect guy for me.  What if all the really good guys are taken.  What if my standards are too high.  What if I'm meant to be single forever.  What if, what if, what if...

Last Sunday, my Sunday-school class began a series on dating based on the book of Solomon.  The advice the video gave on finding the perfect spouse was this:

Run as hard after Jesus as you can and then look beside you.  If you see someone there, wave at them and keep running.  Later, look again and if that person is still there, invite them to come run with you because marriage is about running after God with someone going at the same pace (equally yoked).

Now, hearing this made me realize that maybe lately, I have been too focused on being single and not focusing enough on God and my relationship with him.  I feel like I have been putting all my time and energy into everything but God.

I believe that when my priorities fall into the right place and can stay there, God will introduce me to the guy he has chosen just for me.
